The Stacey Pre-school is a pack-away setting based in The Stacey Community Centre where we operate as a blended traditional early years setting and as a Forest School enjoying unique access to the organic grounds, gardens and orchard.
The Stacey Community Centre and The Stacey Pre-School are run as a charity and are managed by The Stacey Community Association; a committee of volunteer trustees all of whom live and work in the local area.
It's our mission to be an exemplary provider of quality early years education and childcare for the children of our community and to encourage children to explore, learn, grow and make friends from within a nurturing, enabling and friendly environment.
Forest School
With The Stacey Pre-school already benefitting from a large private patio and exclusive regular access to our beautiful organic orchard, gardens and raised beds, trustees have developed a large plot of land adjacent to the Pre-school's patio which is used exclusively as a Forest School space for our young learners to enjoy and explore.
Our enriching Forest School activities offer lots of opportunities for learning in the natural environment and for the children in our care to learn about, appreciate and respect our planet and the natural environment from a Forest Schools Association accredited Level 3 Forest School Leader.
An Eco-Friendly Setting
The Stacey Centre has been an eco-friendly community setting for several years: we have a robust composting and recycling programme and we do not use any single-use plastics on the premises.
The Stacey Pre-School has also joined the 'Plastic Free Communities: Surfers Against Sewage' environmental charity to better promote and share our ethos with members of our community. We have said goodbye to glitter, plastic straws and cling film and hello to bamboo toothbrushes, wet bags and biodegradable baby wipes and nappy sacks - with more positive changes yet to come.
We hope to lead by example and to encourage our youngest community members to learn about the importance of caring for the amazing planet we live in.

NEWS & DIARY DATES
Outdoor Classroom Day
Thursday 6 November 2025: 10.30am - 12noon
Open to all children and their parents/carers to join us for another morning of learning outdoors. We will be enjoying a sensory walk around our grounds whilst enjoying “Storytime on the Move."
Nursery Rhyme Week
Monday 10 - Friday 14 November 2025
Nursery Rhymes play an important role in early childhood development and education. As well as being fun they are excellent teaching tools, helping to boost vocabulary and language development, to develop literacy and early numeracy skills and help children in their social, physical and emotional skills. We will be holding lots of Nursery Rhyme themed activities and learning in the setting and in Forest School and, along with our team, we are inviting all children to come to Pre-School dressed as a well known Nursery Rhyme character if they choose to. You don’t need to buy a costume, you can google for simple ideas to make something at home or adapt something from their ordinary clothes e.g. a head bandage for Jack from “Jack & Jill”
Christmas Jumper Day
Thursday 11 December 2025 In support of Save The Children UK we are inviting all children to come to Pre-School dressed in their favourite Christmas jumper for the whole week (Monday 8– Friday 12 December). We are collecting donations in aid of Save The Children UK. Suggested donation is £1
Pre-School Nativity & Christmas Celebration
Friday 19 December 2025 1.30pm
Our annual Christmas celebration PLUS a very "special guest" visiting us. Further details will be sent out to families after the October Half Term.

FREE Session: Open to all of our children returning to us in September, our new starters and prospective families wanting to visit our setting before registering their child.

LEAVERS GRADUATION ASSEMBLY

We are celebrating the end of year with a special Graduation Assembly for all of our leavers and their families to celebrate all of the achievements and fun that our friends have made whilst at Pre-School.
OUTDOOR CLASSROOM DAY - STAY & PLAY
Thursday 8 May 2025
Although everyday is Outdoor Classroom Day at Pre-School, we celebrated once again by inviting parents and carers to join their child to enjoy some forest school activities together in our dedicated Forest School area. Children made "Spinning Wooden Tops" using natural resources and went on a "Sound Walk" around our grounds.

READY FOR SCHOOL SACKS
Summer Term 2025
Our hugely popular "Ready for School Sacks" have been re-stocked again for the term, ready for children to take home and borrow so that parents can participate in their learning together.
Our red sacks are designed for our 3-4 year olds to share with parents and carers and are themed around a specific area of learning to support transition to school in September - whilst our blue sacks are designed for 2 - 3 year olds.
All of our sacks will have a quality book for you to share together, plus an educational game, puzzle or story prop and some simple worksheets and a fun activity guide to enhance learning together.
